“LOSS ANGELES” - SOLO EXHIBITION BY FIDIA FALASCHETTI
LOSS ANGELES, a new, INVITE ONLY solo exhibition, by Fidia Falaschetti opens on Saturday, March 12.
His art is a critique of the pop-culture global capitalist mania that engulfs our lives.
Fidia describes himself as a “visual clown” who is tired of the “increasing stupidity of modern society.”
He also describes himself as a “contemporary art ‘missionary’ ” who creates stunning sculptures depicting bastardized forms of pop-culture icons.
Apple Care - Rainbow, Fidia Falaschetti
Apple Care, a series of his current sculptures, caught my eye. It is a collection of Macintosh-shaped apples with a grenade pin on top, available in various colors, including the iconic Apple rainbow colors of the early Macintosh computers.
Fidia’s work attempts to wake the viewer from society's “emotional slumber” and poke fun at how braindead we’ve all become.
Happy Me, Fidia Falaschetti
Another sculpture collection, Happy Me, is a glossy cheeseburger with American flag stars as sesame seeds on the bun. You love to see Fidia taking the piss out of American culture with his reference to Cheeseburger Happy Meals from McDonalds.
Melting Donald Fuck, Fidia Falaschetti
His sculpture series Melting Donald Fuck depicts the famous glove worn by Donald Duck, but the glove has 1 middle finger extended in various colors. He has alternate Donald Fuck prints as well.
I expect LOSS ANGELES should be an evening of pop-culture irreverence and politically incorrectness.
